The bar with no name in the neighborhood is once again too full that evening, so we decide to try the bar in the Moxy Frankfurt City. To our surprise, there is hardly anything going on in the bar. Despite it being Friday night. Despite the book fair.
On the other hand, the Moxy on Thurn-und-Taxis-Platz has only been open since the end of 2018 and not everyone thinks of drinking cocktails at a hotel bar. Above the long bar hangs a board on which the drinks are written. There are nine cocktails, six beers, three wines and a range of non-alcoholic drinks to choose from. The beer selection also includes the local “Binding Römer Pils” and the popular Baden “Rothaus Tannenzäpfle”.
The cocktails cost 8.50 euros each. While you know what you’re getting with classics such as the Moscow Mule and Negroni, it’s more difficult with the in-house creations “Moxy No. 5” and “The Prancing Pony”. The motto at the bar in Moxy Frankfurt City is self-service and so we make contact with the bartender. He is happy to welcome new guests and explains to us what the names mean.
The Moxy scores particularly well when it comes to style

We’re in the mood for a Moscow Mule. We pay immediately and choose one of the many seats – not so easy when there’s hardly a seat occupied. Too bad, the cocktail could be stronger. I’m beginning to think it’s a shame that there are hardly any other guests around. The bar at Moxy Frankfurt City even has a few sociable table games and a table football table. Everything here is very stylish and the typical Moxy pink creates a lounge-like atmosphere.
We finish our cocktails and make our way home.
