What could be better in the summer weather than cooling off in a swimming lake? Just 30 kilometers from Frankfurt am Main, between Hanau and Aschaffenburg, is the Großwelzheim bathing lake.

Our vacation tip for all those who want to experience something in the Rhine-Main region. The quarry pond offers entertainment and sports activities for the whole family: you can play beach volleyball, basketball, mini golf, table tennis and boccia or take a vacation course in stand-up paddling. The little ones can build waterways at the paddling channel and then reward themselves with an ice cream. The lake offers all lazybones a beautiful sandy beach and refreshment in the water.

Picking organic strawberries near Marburg

A vacation tip for all foodies is Laggel’s organic strawberry field. Until mid-July, you can pick fresh strawberries directly from the field from Saturday to Tuesday until 7 pm.

You can choose from many different varieties, which are allowed to ripen in the field and taste completely different to the strawberries in the supermarket. The field is littered with straw, making it easy to pick even after rain.
