A charming vaulted cellar in Frankfurt’s Bahnhofsviertel district is home to a culinary gem of Vietnamese cuisine: Góc Phố Market. As an offshoot of the popular parent restaurant Góc Phố, it offers a successful mix of street food flair and a cozy restaurant atmosphere. My experience there was mostly positive, with a few small areas for improvement.
Friendly service in a relaxed atmosphere
The first impression was consistently positive: the service proved to be extremely courteous and attentive. Contrary to the usual self-service concept, she even took the order at the table and collected it there – a nice service that made the experience even more enjoyable. The interior of the vaulted cellar creates a cozy atmosphere that invites you to linger.
Refreshing drinks and authentic appetizers
The drink of choice was the homemade passion fruit and mint lemonade (CHANH LEO ĐÁ, 0.4l for €5.50). This proved to be the perfect refreshment – fruity and sweet with a pleasant hint of mint.
The vegetarian summer rolls (GỎI CUỐN CHAY, €6.90 for 2 pieces) were convincing across the board. Filled to the brim with crunchy vegetables, tofu and fresh herbs, they offered an authentic taste experience. The accompanying Nước Tương dip rounded off the whole thing harmoniously.
Main course with room for improvement
The main course GỎI GÀ (€15.50) – a salad with chicken, green papaya, cucumber and herbs – unfortunately couldn’t quite match the quality of the starter. Although the ingredients were fresh and of good quality, the chicken lacked a bit of flavor. A little more seasoning would have been desirable here to exploit the full potential of the dish.
Conclusion: A worthwhile destination for lovers of Vietnamese cuisine
Despite the small shortcoming in the main course, Góc Phố Market leaves a thoroughly positive impression. The authentic starters, refreshing drinks and pleasant ambience make it a recommended address for anyone who wants to enjoy Vietnamese cuisine in Frankfurt.
With its fair prices and central location in the city center, the restaurant is suitable for a quick lunch as well as a cozy evening. The opening hours from Monday to Tuesday and Thursday to Friday from 12:00-15:00 and 18:00-21:00, as well as Saturday and Sunday from 12:00-21:00 (closed on Wednesdays) offer flexible options for a visit.
For anyone who wants to enjoy authentic Vietnamese cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere, Góc Phố Market is definitely worth a visit. With a little more spice in the chicken dish, it would be just about perfect.
